while this is somewhat amusing, this all started with reaganomics. He started outsourcing of manufacturing in the U.S. so that we wouldn't produce anything anymore. We used to import resources and turn them into products and sell them abroad. Now it is the other way around. Sad isn't it?

My husband works a lot and is much older (I have two stepsons 27 and 18, plus a 6 yr old step-grandson in addition to my 2 year old son) and he rarely has daylight time during the week to spend doing "boy stuff" with my son, like teaching him to catch balls, swing a bat, shoot hoops, etc. I, on the other hand, have most of my day free to spend with my son.

Silly, I know, seeing as my son is only 2, but he's very athletically advanced and has great hand-eye coordination. I was a runner when I was younger but never played team sports. I would hate to teach him a wrong grip or bad methods, so I would love to see an early sports-themed workshop for mommies (or non-athletic dads, too) in my position--you know, us future soccer and T-Ball Moms? My son got a T-ball set for Christmas this year and though I don't really know the game well, I've already taught him how to set it up, swing and hit--and he's actually pretty good at it and gets so excited every time he gets a hit! He can already catch a soft ball with a mitt too.

We do a lot of the things you listed already--I live in the city so there are lots of those types of activities for free already at the library, Mommie and Me clubs, my gym, and playgroup.

if you're a bigger guy, element is not the company for you. alien workshop is an improvement, but blind and zero would probably be the best.

to be honest all decks are the same, just differnt design and company. I would go with the one in the best condition because you will have more skate time on it before it starts looseing its pop.

I too am in the midst of a career re-direction. I'm currently in the process of trying to develop a career in photojournalism, and I must admit that it's a lot harder than I anticipated, and I don't mean in terms of the amount of work. The problem I'm finding is that it's hard to get your foot in the door unless you've graduated with some prestigious credentials...and I already have a B.A., just not related to photography. It was a struggle for me just to find an internship (and an unpaid one at that)! And in doing my "homework," I've found that photojournalism jobs are few and far between- and lots of qualified people are applying! I've gone back to school to study the art and science of photography as well as Photoshop to help increase my "hire-ability" quotient, but I've been told numerous times that the key to success is just to keep shooting and adding to your portfolio. But I am committed to my goal of earning a living with my camera, and I intend to just keep shooting until then. Good luck to you!
